Bringing an interdisciplinary approach through an anarchic and intuitive methodology, Joshua Sleep’s work often explores semiotic and metaphysical ideas through the use of surrealist and absurd imagery. His work often challenges the viewer’s assumptions and invites them to question their understanding of truth and what they understand about their own world. As he continues to evolve as an artist, he remains committed to pushing the boundaries of his understanding and knowledge, constantly reassessing his role as both the creator and as an observer.
Sleep is currently based in Tartanya (Adelaide), relocating after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) (Honours) at RMIT University in Naarm (Melbourne). He is continually refining his practice currently developing exhibitions as artist and curator.
Sleep’s current achievements include a receiving the Lang Family Foundation/McKee Award and being a finalist in the 13th Prospect Portrait Prize.
