Katia Ksr is a multidisciplinary artist based in Geelong, respectfully living and working on Wadawurrung Country. Katia’s diverse art practice spans across painting, printmaking, site-specific installation and community arts, engaging with notions of time, place and belonging.
Katia’s most recent work is a site-specific installation of large paintings on transparent textiles take viewers on a journey through a sensory experience of being present in a moment of wonder within a pastel sunset, surrounded by the soft glow of the horizon.
Developed through an ongoing enquiry into painting in Eastern and Western contemporary art while studying Bachelor of Fine Art at Monash University, these paintings extend on Katia’s ‘small miracles’ series (2012 – ongoing) and continue their everlasting presence as memories and stories of spending time by the sea.

My most recent works from the last 12 months include Afterglow series – experimental site-specific installations Afterglow series of small paintings and experimental site-specific large scale installations of digital prints on textiles based on those paintings. These take viewers on a journey through a sensory experience of being present in a moment of wonder within a pastel sunset, surrounded by the soft glow of the horizon.
In 2025 I have been working extensively on developing my expanded paintings as well as experimenting with mediums, scale and colour palettes to capture transient moments of the afterglow effect - a fleeting moment just after the sunset and before twilight – through the seasons over the last 12 months.
Afterglow/December in July is an experimental digital print on textiles based on my memory of the immersive afterglow effect experienced while on a walk along the beach in Torquay in South West Victoria on Wadawurrung Country.
